I live and work in New York and Rio de Janeiro. My work shifts between the virtual and the real time through installations that make use of sculpture, printmaking, poetry, video, sound, book-art, photography and internet. I have explored in my works through the sensorial social and cultural issues, hybridism, place & lack of place, impermanence, and nomadism while focusing on the preservation of personal and collective memories. Currently, the focus of my artistic practice focuses on the inclusion of smell and its relation to memory through the Diary of Smells. Since 1983, with a series of works entitled Smell of Fish, I have been including subtly references to smell and memory. Presently, Diary of Smells, is presented in the form of installation, video, workshops, urban events and a blog. The installation Nidus Vitreo, part of this series was at the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes/Rio de Janeiro in December 2010 with the technical support from Givaudan of Brazil.

Vivo e mantenho ateliê em Nova York e Rio de Janeiro. Minha obra transita entre o virtual e o tempo real através de instalações que fazem uso de escultura, gravura, poesia, vídeo, som, livro-arte, fotografia e web. Tenho explorado através do sensorial, temáticas culturais e sociais, preservação da memória individual e coletiva, enfocando o híbrido, o desabrigo, o transitório e o nomádico da globalização atual. No momento, o foco da minha prática artística se concentra no olfato e no desenvolvimento do projeto Diário de Cheiros. Desde 1983, com a série Cheiro de Peixe, estabeleci sutilmente a inclusão da relação olfato e memória. Apresento Diário de Cheiros em formato de instalação/sensorial, vídeo, workshops e eventos urbanos e o blog.

A instalação Nidus Vítreo desta série será apresentada no Museu Nacional de Belas do Rio de Janeiro em dezembro de 2010 com o apoio técnico da Givaudan do Brasil.
